The Executive Branch of the Republic of Panama officially announced that nationals from friendly countries, such as the Republic of Peru, may apply for a provisional residence permit in Panama, which will be valid for two years. This permit may be granted for reasons such as employment, real estate investment, or a fixed-term deposit in the banking sector, as reported by the newspaper *La Estrella de Panamá*.

To apply for permanent residency under this program, applicants must apply to the Qualified Investor Program, signed by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen under Executive Decree No. 722 of October 15, 2020. The decree specifies that, to apply for this program, foreign investors must invest in real estate with a minimum of B/. 300,000 during the first 24 months of the decree's validity. After this period, the required investment amount increases to B/. 500,000.
